Handwriting
Many young children have difficulty writing in first and second grade. Crow Island kindergarten and first grade teachers use a handwriting program called Handwriting Without Tears. This program teaches children how to properly form their letters step by step, using verbal reminders. Here is a link to the language we use to direct letter formation. By using these verbal reminders while your child writes, you will be reminding him or her of what he or she learned in class. Click on the Handwriting Without Tears icon below to find handwriting reference pages that can give you guidance for proper letter formation as you help your child practice his handwriting at home. |

What’s Lost as Handwriting Fades Even as the emphasis shifts to the keyboard, experts say that learning to write by hand improves motor skills, memory and creativity. http://nyti.ms/1kqAhfj |
